How We Got Started

Hello! Historic Seaton Springs Farm website is up and running! A tremendous thanks to Drew Bourke and his company Avidea, LLC for designing and implementing our website from just a vision to completion. We highly recommend Avidea for all web design, web hosting, and domain creation!

It was late in the evening of March 16, 2018 and my wife Syresa and I were driving back home to Sevierville, Tennessee from Florida. For about a year we had tossed around the idea of listing two of our four bedrooms as available for nightly rental so at that moment, we decided we would take a chance and list our property on Airbnb.com. The bedrooms had one bed in each of them and maybe a chair and that was about it. We thought, no worries. After all, it would probably be at least a couple of weeks before anyone would notice the listing and book with us, right? WRONG! We awoke the next morning with our first booking by a wonderful retired couple from Iowa who would be there in 2 weeks! Then by Sunday, March 18, we had two more bookings with one couple arriving in 3 days! HELP!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!! We immediately had to do a bit of shopping, sanding  dressers, and custom decorating to make our first guests’ visit an unforgettable one. Young couple Jessica and Blaine were our first guests and they left after two nights with a great experience. Jessica wrote in our guest comment book…
“We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The food, bedroom, and atmosphere was absolutely wonderful! So glad we found you guys!”
WHEW! We did it! We decided to name our two rooms by names of the original family who built and lived here in 1884. The downstairs bedroom is named the James Seaton Room after Dr. James H Seaton who owned the home and was a Doctor of Medicine and Ministry. Dr. Seaton was born in 1844 and died in 1916. The upstairs bedroom is named after his daughter and is called the Mary Seaton Room.

During this exciting period of time, we had been in the process of purchasing a two bedroom/two bath furnished condo near Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, TN and the closing date was one week after we decided to join Airbnb.com to offer stays at our home. We had a pending long-term renter who would move in immediately after closing but their plans changed within the last couple of weeks so we decided to list the condo on Airbnb.com as well. We listed the condo on Airbnb.com the day of the closing and within 24 hours after officially owning the condo,  we had our first guest booking and arrival at the newly named Rowland Retreat! The response to our listings has been incredible and we have quickly realized the excitement and blessing of our dream of hosting guests at our home and condo. Come stay with us!
